fortnite: Battle Royale, and that sentence has been a long time coming

Fortnite: Battle Royale, and that sentence has been a long time coming. Depending on your perspective this is either a gigantic patch or a tiny one, but someone just logging into play probably won’t notice a ton of big changes. That doesn’t mean they aren’t there, however, so let’s dive into the patch notes for Fortnite v11.50.

Chaos Physics: This is the big/little one. The introduction of Unreal Engine’s chaos physics would appear to be a huge backend change for the developer, but its still in the testing phase. Epic says that its priority right now is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite, and so you won’t be noticing a big difference right now:

Fortnite
  • At launch, our goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like what you would expect. We’ll be closely monitoring your feedback from the in-game Feedback tool for any issues you may be experiencing.
  • To report issues via the in-game Feedback v buck generator tool, select Feedback in the main menu and choose Bug. We encourage you to put “Physics” in the subject line and include a concise message in the body that accurately describes the issue(s) you’re experiencing.

Launch Pads: Are back! A decent mobility item if you can grab one, one that should increase our still-limited ability to navigate the map for Chapter 2. It does, at times, feel like we started this season in as stripped-down a mode as possible and like we’re going to slowly build our way to the insanity of late Chapter 1.

The Launch Pad is only available in non-competitive playlists.

Event: It’s not Harley Quinn—shes just a skin. It’s seems like it’s going to be a pretty straightforward Valentine’s Day event called “Love and War” with some simple challenges and rewards. It revolves around a “Search and Destroy” LTM and can earn you a free pickaxe if you’re so inclined.
